TRANSITION FROM WORK TO RETIREMENT
|
|
Presented by Peter Nicholls
|
The traditional concept of retirement as the time to stop working and start dying has all but disappeared. People are recalibrating their lifestyle almost continuously. Age 60 is no time to be quitting life. But it's an important time to consider whether or not to continue working and the role of work in life. Far from being old, people in their 60’s are looking forward to living a healthy, active lifestyle for another 30 years or more.
This isn't about financial planning. It’s about lifestyle issues for what many call “a second adulthood”. If you're going to keep working, you want it to be on your terms.
Topics for discussion include:
• Life’s different – why retirement is a whole new ball game
• Who’s writing your life script? It’s time to take control
• Why do you work? – the non-financial reasons for living that you need to pursue whether or not you work
• The similarities between long-term financial planning and lifestyle planning
• Avoiding the curse of “The Retired Husband” syndrome
