Recently I commented to a long time client she was playing too small a game. She answered, “But you said I moving too fast too soon.” I pointed out that when I made that statement, she was operating her business based on her unconscious, grandiose ego needs. Over the time we had been working together, she has changed and is now on enough solid ground for a natural expansion in her thinking, in her actions and her outcomes. She truly has her feet on the ground and her head in the stars

This exchange reminded me yet again that when you are operating your life on unconscious ego needs you are building castles on sand. You may experience some temporary successes, but like sand they will be washed away, unless there is a solid foundation to sustain your success, through the high and low tides of life’s cycles.

Out of control ego needs actually rest on top of abject unconscious fears and insecurities. Never before in history of the US have we had an almost daily dose of terrorist threats that can penetrate our shores as easily as Great Britain. Combined with a prolonged presidential election process, no matter your politics, these two factors alone play into the collective consciousness (mass unconsciousness) of fears and economic insecurities

Juxtaposition to this uncertainty or maybe because of it, there seems to be an explosion fast-food-fix programs that promise – instant millionaire, millionaire in a minute or a number of weekend wonder programs guaranteed to be the answer to all your financial and life woes. It works for some people, giving them just the jumpstart they need, but for far too many, a weekend wonder seminar just gives their critic more ammunition with which to beat themselves up. What they don’t realize and can’t really see is that building castles on a sandy consciousness just leaves you more than vulnerable to being washed away by the collective consciousness of fear and lack.
