Walter W. Hoff is President of Development First, LLC, which is a leadership development company that provides consulting, facilitation, and design services to clients in various industries focused on building the skills of present and future leaders of people.
Since starting the firm in March 2007, Walt has completed several consulting projects where he designed and facilitated coaching and leadership programs, as well as in other areas of leadership development. He has conducted more than 200 classroom sessions during this time.
Walt has more than 29 years of corporate experience, with 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He spent the last 16 years with Johnson & Johnson, working for Janssen and Ortho Biotech. He held positions in sales, sales management, marketing, managed care, human resources, and training and development. Walt contributed to bottom-line sales and to the development of people throughout his career.
For the last five and one half years, Walt was the Director of Leadership Training and Development at Ortho Biotech. His notable accomplishments were launching competency models that became a standard throughout the company, designing a structured blended learning curriculum to develop future District Sales Managers and Region Sales Directors, and orchestrating two multiple-day Leadership Development Conferences for internal and field managers in the US and Canada.
Walt received a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from Pace University in New York City in 1988. Since his graduation from Pace, Walt has been an Alumni Mentor. He has spoken at several Pace student programs, most recently serving as the keynote speaker for the Student Leadership Conference held February 2008.
An avid contemporary jazz listener, Walt is past President of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County, Pa, where he lives. He is still an active Board member and a Big Brother.
